Welcome to the Dansville Fish & Game Club's Website

Big Buck Contest: $5.00 per entry, one entry per person. Deadline for bow entry is October 17th, 2008, Deadline for gun entry is November 14th, 2008. Winner will be announced December 20th at 5pm at the lower clubhouse. Cash Prizes will be awarded at this time, and the bar will be open for this event. See Andrew Pierpont 335-3253 or Shane Fitzpatrick 737-5360  for entry and scoring or e-mail dansvillefishandgame@hotmail.com. NYSDEC tag number required to enter your buck. Racks will be scored by B&C scoring methods, unofficial green score, and will go as an official score if deemed necessary. Entries must be received by the deadline date. $30 Membership to the Dansville Fish and Game not required but appreciated.

Gander Mountain:

As some of you may already be aware, the Gander Mtn. Outdoor Education Series will be conducting its Second Annual "Upland & Wetland Bird Habitat ~ Education & Appreciation Day" at the Henrietta, NY Gander Mtn. on Saturday, February 7th.This should be a great day again, with some very gifted wildlife authorities doing informative seminars on what type of habitat is necessary for birds {as well as other wildlife} to thrive, and what can and is being done on both public and private lands to achieve the necessary habitat.  Last year we had 175-200 people attend just the seminars alone.  In addition, there will be gift card give-always and discount shopping opportunities again this year throughout the day.. December members meeting: The December 10th, 2008 catered dinner will be Chaired by Larry Colburn, Dick Burger, Jerry Jackson, Fran Howe,
Mike Pike, Travis Deiter, Donald Rush, Garner Rush, Gary Rush, Dave Avery,
Brian Mettler, Dale Slocum, Dave Bennett, Will Norton and Davey Cansdale will be selling Dinner Tickets, with the meeting to follow at 8PM. Please feel free to bring along a friend, Spouse or a child to the dinner and meeting nights.

 We want to take an opportunity to thank Herm and Rose Hillier for all of their tireless efforts in cooking for all of the members dinners and so many other special events here at the Dansville Fish and Game.

ARCHERY: Archery is done for this season, A big thanks to all who put in a lot of hours making this a great part of our club!

SKEET: We are shooting Tuesdays, from 4 PM until dark, If you are interested in learning to shoot or sharpening up your skills, please contact Ron Johnson (335-6870) or Mike Derrenbacher (335-7486). We will be shooting Sunday mornings at 9AM when the time changes

Clubhouse rentals:  Please See Jim Bennett if you would like to reserve a clubhouse for your event, and Sheila Freas will be taking over these rentals for the 2009 rentals, along with some assistance from some other club members in help with preparation and cleanup of the clubhouses

The NSSA is done for the 2008 season, and we look forward to some new ideas for 2009.

Our Membership is currently nearly 500 members, if you know if someone who has not renewed, or you may have a new neighbor, please extend the invitation to join the club.

DEC/Hunting Related topics: *New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Pete Grannis today announced that the state has adopted regulations that open new areas to black bear hunting this fall. The new regulations expand bear hunting to 13 additional Wildlife Management Units (WMUs), which include parts of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Erie, Wyoming, Genesee, Monroe, Livingston, Wayne, Ontario, Seneca, Yates, Steuben, Schuyler, Tompkins, Tioga, Cortland, Broome, Chenango, Madison, Onondaga, Oneida, and Otsego counties.

The regulations are in effect immediately and will allow hunters to pursue bears in these areas during the bow hunting, regular, and muzzle-loading bear hunting seasons in the Southern Zone.
